Pieces of a Dream is an hour long abridged version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Grab some chairs, a blanket, and bring the family down to Colgrove Park on Saturday, September 17 at 3 pm for a free performance of Pieces of a Dream.

Playing with William Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Main Street Stage’s acting company have fashioned a rollicking hour-long show tailored to people of all ages that is filled with love potions, magic, singing, dancing, fighting, and braying. Yes, braying.

Colgrove Park, an expanse of grass and stone steps on the grounds of Conte Middle School, lies along Church Street between Union and Main. Pieces of a Dream will  also be performed at Heron Cove (the causeway at the rail trail) in Cheshire on Sunday September  25 at 3 p.m. and in Lee at the Spectrum Playhouse on Saturday September 24 at 4 p.m.

Main Street Stage has transformed itself into a “theater without walls.”  With Pieces of a Dream, the troupe begins their new mission of bringing shows out in the community — parks, lunchrooms, maybe even your driveway or backyard. The Seagull had a fantastic run, and we would like to thank everyone who attended!

Once the show closed, we set to work collecting our things and leaving our space on Main Street. A few weeks and many, many helping hands later, we have successfully moved our belongings to storage while we continue our search for a new home. A huge thank you to our volunteers!

We are without a stage to call our own — so we’ll find other stages to borrow in the meantime! Main Street Stage Comedy Nights return in July at the Red Herring in Williamstown. On July 8, we’ll have a free-admission open mike night, and on July 29, local comics and RBIT will perform, admission $10. Both shows begin at 8 PM.

And stay tuned — some summer Shakespeare will be coming to a stage near you!

On the Verge follows the adventures of three Victorian women explorers into what they believe to be Terra Incognita, a new, unexplored land.  Blending Tom Stoppard’s limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari…spinning into time travel.

Opening Wed. Sept. 22 through Saturday 25 at 9 pm with live music and cocktails starting at 7pm.   Gypsy Layne. The Berkshire’s first home grown burlesque show.  Coming straight from The Red Herring in Williamstown, Gypsy Layne is thrilled to continue their run at Main Street Stage in North Adams MA.

The brainchild of Nicole Rizzo of North Adams, Gypsy Layne is a show that traces over a century of American Burlesque, highlighting the historical and theatrical aspects from the London stages to vaudeville, through Old Broadway to the present neo-burlesque craze. Featuring Ms Karen Louise Lee as host/MC,(as well as playing Gypsy Rose Lee) the hour long revue showcases six other dancers, including Ms. Rizzo (director/producer), as well as a surprise guest performer each week. Singing, hoola hoops, roller skates, belly dancing, a carousel horse and Jelly Rolls are just some of the gimmicks this multi-talented ensemble will display, with plenty of improv, comedy and audience participation to boot. Or not to boot… (sorry, I couldn’t resist the pun)

Yes, it’s grandparents day! Kids invite your grandma and grandpa to enjoy a delightful performance featuring clowns, puppets, music and more. Clowns Shmurple, Mambo and Bowtie visit some pesky puppets, including The Encyclopoodle (the dog who knows everything), the Ductionary (the duck who knows every word in the English language), and Taco Caramba, the most ferocious pirate parrot to fly the seven seas! Join them as they struggle to find out what a “compromise” is, brave the Big Dark Scary Cave and Dance With a Clown!

Pirates! Returns to Main Street Stage Friday July 30th at 11 a.m.

Written and directed by Don Jordan,  Pirates! is a swashbuckling adventure featuring bold buccaneers, a mysterious map with a riddle, cursed treasure, a visit to an island that you can’t see, a pirate ghost, and a magical journey to the bottom of the sea. This sea-faring tale features mime, music, masks, and delightful puppets created by Clothespin Puppets.

Yes, the Redroom returns after a long hiatus!  This is the Mommy Redroom: a locally written variety show exploring all things pregnancy and babies.  Thursday August 5, Friday August 6 and Saturday August 7 the doors will open at 8:30 for life drawing and the show will begin at 9 p.m.

$10 includes a live model, art supplies, food, drink and show.

Winner of the Obie Award, The Baltimore Waltz is a giddy, fleet fantasy based on the love and adventures of a brother and sister, one of whom has a fatal disease. In the opening scene, the brother is wearing pajamas, but it is his schoolteacher sister who’s diagnosed with a deadly virus that sends the two of them spinning off to Europe to find romance and a cure before the final crashing scenes where reality sets in.

Performance dates are June 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 at 8 p.m. and Sunday June 20th at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for students, $15 for seniors and $20 for adults.  Thursday June 24 is community pay what you can night.  For reservations please call the box office at 413-663-3240 or go to mainstreetstage.org and click on reservations.  This show contains adult subject matter and is not suitable for children.
