The Redroom

The Red Room

The Redroom is a social event, a salon, and a performance all in one evening. The doors open at eight for light refreshment and life drawing in the lobby, along with a lot of mingling. An Advocate article called it “the kind of place where you can talk to a stranger.” You can sketch the live model, watch other people sketch her(or him), have a glass of wine and some snacks. Also, you get to mingle with the cast, who wander about in the lobby before the show.

Then, at 9:00, the evening’s host leads you back into the theatre for a variety show that usually includes a musical act and new work by local writers in addition to readings, dance, magic, whatever we can find. But you never know what will happen at the Redroom, or what will come on stage next. The show usually runs an hour and people often stay after in the lobby.

So what is the Redroom? A great date night–an entire evening for only $10 a person. A great place to meet new people. A showcase of local artistic culture and talent. A fourth-wall breaking theatrical experience.

The Redroom often contains adult material and langauge. You have been warned. Become a fan of The Red Room on Facebook
